We survived a Savage wedding

In early June of 2016, Liz and I took a journey to an event that we had no idea that we were going to have to try to survive… it was a Savage wedding… or in another manner of speaking, it was the wedding of Melissa Branagan to Michael Savage, a wedding in which this couple emerged as Savages! Mr. & Mrs. Savage to be exact. As fun as that all is to say, the fact is that very few days in our long careers as Red Bank wedding photographers were so easy to survive. The wedding took place on a beautiful day and in some of our favorite places.
Michael and Melissa took their very emotional vows at Allaire State Park but unlike any other wedding we have photographed there, it took place not in the tiny chapel but in front of the beautiful gazebo on park grounds. Very nice!
The Molly Pitcher Inn was our next stop and for Liz and I, that place is like our home away from home. There was in fact nothing at all savage about this day… Michael and Melissa were so sweet and there was just so much fun to be had. Yes… somehow, we survived!
Happy 1st Anniversary to Michael & Melissa! Thanks for the coffee cups! Please, keep in touch!

Paper Flowers + Rats…

I have always jokingly said that if you’re going to call your restaurant “RATS”, you had better be sure that you are beyond excellent! This is where Rats, in Hamilton, NJ hits the mark perfectly… they live up to the “hope”. : ) The same can be said for paper flowers… if you are going to make them for a wedding, they better be beyond excellent and well… this family spent a good part of a year before the wedding doing just that; making the perfect flowers (little sculptural beauties) for a wedding at New Jersey’s primer sculpture garden, Grounds for Sculpture.
That day, they became Andrew & Alexandria Chiusano, surrounded by family, friends and the captivating sculpture, “The Nine Muses”. Once the ceremony ended, it was a short walk to Rats where all were treated to amazing culinary delights and unforgettable moments!
We present this wedding as proof that an amazing wedding celebration can be captured in photography in just 6 short hours! Ali & Andrew, thanks for paying so much attention to detail and treating us all to this thoughtful day of sensory delights!
Happy 1st Anniversary! May the rest of your days be as wonderful as your wedding day!

Find a job that you love and you’ll never work another day in your life!

When our good friends Tom & Eileen told us that Eileen’s sister was getting married at Avenue in Long Branch, NJ and that they wanted to speak to us about wedding photography, we could not have been happier. It was music to our ears because we just love when a wedding that we are “working” is stocked with friends. : ) We always believed in the proverb, “Find a job that you love and you’ll never work another day in your life”, but when there are friends in the room, the day is just that much sweeter!
We had already met the future Jamie & Kathy Welsh, more than a few times over the years at various gatherings at our friends homes but things were about to get much more personal… The couple had recently given birth to twins, Conor & Ava and the kids were going to be a big part of the day as well! Liz began the day with the bride in one of the many splendid rooms at The Bungalow Hotel, just a hop, skip and a jump down the street from their venue. I was with Jamie in another room for some getting ready pictures and the twins soon arrived, all dressed up… in their coach (a double stroller) looking quite ready for action.
After a very sweet first look, a few photos and a short walk down the street, the whole family was taking in the breathtaking views of the Atlantic at their wedding ceremony on the rooftop deck of Avenue. Then, when those very emotional moments came to a happy ending with a kiss, the big fun began, just a few steps away! It was nap time for Conor & Ava and party time for Mom & Dad!
We could not be more thankful for this opportunity to spend this important day, doing what we love , and doing it with friends… Thanks so much to Kathy & Jamie and a very Happy 1st Anniversary to you both! Happily, I’m sure we will see you and your family again soon! : )
