Hello! We are Bob & Liz McKay, a husband and wife photography team. Back in 1995, we founded McKay Imaging and since then have spent each and every day, living out our dream. Our work days together are full of exciting challenges and interesting people. We feel very, very lucky!

Photography is more than just a job for us; in many ways, it defines who we are. As you look through our website and our blog, we hope that you enjoy viewing our work at least as much as we enjoyed creating it.

ROBERT MCKAY

Hello there! I am Bob McKay, a Jersey Boy, born in Englewood but raised in Monmouth County. My grandparents, recognizing my interest in photography very early on, gave me 3 great cameras at the age of 12 and the rest is history… I’ve been taking pictures now for most of my life. Having had the luxury of growing up in an artistic family, I was largely self-taught and have shown in many shows and galleries, winning prizes and accolades along the way. I did attend Brookdale Community College however, where I honed my skills and most importantly, met my future wife and partner in everything, Elisabeth. We graduated together, with AA degrees in Communications Design, majoring in photography… and that is when things took off! We founded McKay Imaging together in 1995 and finally married in June of 1998!

I think that my interests and strengths have always tended toward documentary photography. This seems to be the well from which most of my PERSONAL WORK (link) is derived. I love the work I do here at McKay Imaging but have been lucky enough to have also been also invited to be the co-Photo Editor of X-it Magazine, a publication of The Monmouth Arts Council.

In my “spare time” I have also had the pleasure to be asked to lend a hand with some very fun projects:

• I was Co-chair of the Brookdale Alumni Art Show for 7 years (with Liz)

• I spent 3 years as the Director of Operations for The Freedom Film Society.

• Hand in hand with my wife Liz, I have also had the honor to serve as a juror for The Middletown Arts Center, The Art Alliance, The Black Mariah Children's Film Festival, The Ocean County Art Society, The Monmouth Festival of the Arts, The Teen Arts Festival and The Guild of Creative Arts among others.

In short, I’ve had a wonderful life, full of rich experiences, made better by meeting and working with so many hundreds of amazing people…

I can’t wait to see what comes next!

ELISABETH KOCH-MCKAY

Hi, I am Elisabeth McKay - I was born in Austria and came to The United States in 1992. Always having had a big interest in the arts, I started taking art classes in Brookdale Community College where I met Robert and graduated with an AA degree in Communications Design. It was there were I fell in love with photography and a partner which would share my passion. Soon afterwards, I was fortunate enough accepted to The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City where I earned a BFA with a concentration on photography.

Robert and I founded McKay Imaging in 1995 and were married in June of 1998. In addition to my passion as a photographer, I dally in graphic design and my interest in fashion and conceptual design shows in my PERSONAL WORK.

On top of my work at McKay Imaging, I have been fortunate to have been able to be part of a lot of other arts organizations and projects such as -photo editor of X-it Magazine, a publication of The Monmouth Arts Council. I was the Co-chair of the Brookdale Alumni Art Show for 7 years and served for 2 years as the Art Director for The Freedom Film Society. I was Creative Director for D-tour magazine and served as a juror for both The Middletown Arts Center, The Art Alliance, The Monmouth Festival of the Arts, The Ocean County Arts Society and The Guild of Creative Arts. Meeting tons of wonderful people and having all these experiences has greatly enriched our lives and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for us.
