Lindsey and Pete, Teak Restaurant, New Jersey Wedding Photographer

Teak as their reception site and had reserved the room ’til closing! So when our time came to depart, the party was really just kicking in! We’ve never been one to leave a good party too early. But that, of course, is not how the day began; let’s go back to the beginning… It began with a ceremony at the splendid Kirkpatrick Chapel in New Brunswick near the Rutgers campus where Pedro (a.k.a. Pete) attended University. We love that beautiful stone chapel! On a nice day (and they had a perfect day), the doors to the sides of the alter can be opened to let in fresh air and beautiful natural light. What a lovely, personal service they had there; a service made especially unique by a sangria ceremony, a little symbolic mixology dreamed up by the bride and groom as a way of making the ceremony their own. When the service was over, we did some family photos and then took a stroll with Pete and Lindsey down the path, through the gate and across the street to for some bride and groom pics on what those Rutgers folk call “The Mall”. Then it was off to Red Bank where I split off to Teak to hang with the guests for cocktail hour and Liz went out for more photo ops with the newly married Aguayo family, first to Riverside Gardens Park for a nice, quiet little photo session and then to The Count Basie Theater, where strangely enough, they were accosted – oops, I mean “greeted” – by a band of delighted theater goers . From there, it was a short walk down Monmouth Street to Teak, where all of the guests had assembled just outside to greet them on arrival. The first dance was lovely and the toasts were touching but things soon got out of hand when the couple started handing out lyric sheets to Meat Loaf’s “Paradise by the Dashboard Lights” in what was clearly a set up for a raucous boy against girl singing duel! Having succeeded in getting the natives all restless with that rowdy sing-along, the DJ rode that wave and kicked the party up a couple of notches right away. That’s just when we realized that our 6 hours was up and it was time for us to depart…. …not very likely! Well we did leave eventually; taking the short walk to the studio to put down our camera bags. Five minutes later however we found ourselves standing outside the party once again, letting the music wash over us on a perfect Summer night and feeling the urge to take just a couple of more pictures.
