Lizette and Ryan, Oyster Point Hotel, Red Bank wedding photographer

Red Bank Wedding Walk has been great for us on so many levels! Most of all, we love that we meet so many fun & interesting people, many of whom later become clients and are often getting married right here in Red Bank. One such couple was Lizette Blohm, a veterinarian & Ryan Reed a Navy submariner, who really got our attention when they walked into our studio with a full parental posse! They told us that they were planning an entirely Red Bank Wedding and wanted to try to use all Wedding Walk vendors. It was to be a military wedding (our first) at St. James with a reception at the beautiful Oyster Point Hotel. Hypothetically, these locations are all so close to our studio that we could have walked to them (which of course we didn’t). Why can’t life always be like that, fun and easy? The day began with the couple both getting ready at The Oyster Point, where Lizette slipped into her gorgeous Priscilla of Boston gown and Ryan prepared and donned his Navy uniform. For us it was the first time that we photographed a bride & groom both dressed in white! The ceremony at St. James was very beautiful, as you can see and was followed by a Navy “Arch of Sabers” ceremony. This ritual is a simple and elegant one. The honor guard form two lines opposite each other. On the command of “draw sabers,” the steel is raised with the right hand, with the cutting edges facing up. The couple enters the arch, kiss, and then passes through. That passage is meant to ensure the couple’s safe transition into their new life together. It is a memorable sight, both powerful and poignant. From the majestic St. James we all passed safely on to Riverside Gardens Park for some lively portraits and then on to The Oyster Point for one heck of a party that was maybe not quite as safe. Think about it. What do you get when you put a bunch on Navy guys in a room after they just spent 6 months on a submarine! Yahoo! Not to be outdone, the bride joined the band and knocked back some rock ‘n roll on the drums! Man we love our job! On days like this we feel like we’re really living! Thanks so much to both the Reed and Blohm families for making us part of your day and then making us feel so welcome. Cheers!
